we always have nutella in the pantry. it usually gets smeared on bananas, animal crackers or eaten straight from the jar with a butter knife.
but i’m really glad i put down the jar & butter knife long enough to make these.
they’re everything there is to love about a good chocolate chip cookie…thick, chewy, crisp around the edges & studded with semisweet chips.
& with the added flavor of chocolate & nutella? they didn’t stand a chance.
CHOCOLATE NUTELLA CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
makes 4 dozen
2 cups, plus 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup brown sugar, well packed
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup nutella
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
preheat the oven to 350°. line baking sheets with parchment paper.
in a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda & salt. set aside.
in the bowl of a stand mixer, or large mixing bowl with hand held mixer, cream the butter until fluffy. add the brown sugar, granulated sugar & nutella & mix well, scraping down the sides if necessary. add the eggs, one at a time, beating for about 30 seconds between each addition. add the vanilla & mix until just incorporated.
turn the mixer speed to low & add the dry ingredients, mixing until combined. fold in chocolate chips.
refrigerate dough for 10 minutes. eat some more nutella while you wait.
drop heaping tablespoonfuls on the prepared baking sheets & bake for 10-12 minutes. let cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to finish cooling. if any make it that far.
