grilled tuna caesar salad & a giveaway!

A few years ago, a group of our friends would get together every monday night for cheap beers & trivia domination.  The venue of choice was a local sports bar with good, but not good for you, bar food.  Most of the time we happily stuffed our faces with the endless combinations of grilled cheese sandwiches, but on the rare occasions when we weren’t feeling the splurge, there was grilled tuna caesar salad.

Now, I realize how weird that sounds.

Good, fresh tuna in a sea of wings, cheese fries & nachos?  Yeah, basically.  Turns out one of the bar owners has a real soft spot for fresh fish.  & it was a welcome surprise.

That bar has since put the end to trivia, but not our grilled tuna caesar salad.

& thanks to the good people at OXO, it’s even easier for us to recreate this simple meal at home.  We recently received one of their new salad dressing shakers, which makes combining & storing our favorite caesar salad dressing a breeze.

Just fill the shaker with ingredients, shake until combined, flip the knob at the top open to serve, then flip it back for airtight storage.  The sides are labeled for easy measuring & the entire thing is dishwasher safe & BPA free.

The hardest thing here is deciding how to pronounce the company.  I’ve always said, “oh-x-oh.”  Tom says, “ox-oh.”  My mom decided on “hugs & kisses” when I asked her.

Would you like a salad dressing shaker of your own?  Just leave us a comment letting us know how you pronounce OXO!

Giveaway ends May 31st & we will randomly select one winner from the comments below.

CAESAR DRESSING
makes about 6 servings

1 clove garlic, grated
1 big pinch kosher salt
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1-2 teaspoons anchovy paste
salt & freshly ground pepper, to taste
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

On a flat surface, mash together the grated garlic & kosher salt, using the flat side of a chef’s knife or fork.  Add to a small bowl, or salad dressing shaker.

If whisking by hand, add the lemon juice, mayonnaise, worcestershire sauce, anchovy paste, salt & pepper to the bowl.  Slowly stream in the olive oil, while whisking, until everything has emulsified.

If using a salad dressing shaker, simply add the rest of the ingredients to the mashed garlic, close the lid & shake to combine.

adapted from the joy of cooking

We did receive the OXO Salad Dressing Shaker at no charge, but we really happen to like their products & this review is our opinion.  Giveaway only open to US residents & all comments must be made by 11:59 Eastern Time, May 31st.  Winner will be randomly selected & contacted via email.  Good luck!

I really like your Mom’s interpretation! I’ve always said OXO, but after poking around on their website I guess it’s Ox (like the animal) – O (like the letter). It’s probably hugs and kisses in my house from now on though. (The salad looks great too!)
