This work week wasn’t filled with too much excitement, but last weekend we & some friends headed to Asheville.  It wasn’t hard to find some favorites in that town.

1.  Thirsty Monk.  “Asheville’s Premier Beer Bar” with Belgians downstairs & American craft beers upstairs, with an indoor staircase connecting the two…you can’t really go wrong.  We indulged in a bottle of The Bruery’s Oude Tart & an ombré red/orange ensemble for everyone!

2.  Brunch @ Early Girl.  Just look at the menu.  There’s so much deliciousness there, but it’s well worth the wait that you’re likely to endure, especially on a weekend.

3.  Pisgah Brewing.  Hands down, the best beer you’re not drinking….unless you’re in Western NC, since their distribution only goes as far as Charlotte.  All organic & very, very well crafted.

4.  Wedge.  This is a great place to spend an afternoon with good beer, food trucks, plenty of outdoor seating (with movies in the summer!) & corn hole.  We enjoyed it all on an unseasonably warm fall day.

5.  Alpacas.  We came across this guy, Jack Straw, during the River Arts District Studio Stroll.  When I was little, I used to cry because my mom wouldn’t buy me a llama.  Now that I’m older & much wiser, I realize that Alpacas are clearly a better choice, because LOOK AT THAT FACE.
